Remote-Controlled Lawnmowers Improve Efficiency in Embankment Weed Management

A large amount of weeds on the embankment line affects both the appearance of the embankment and the work of patrolling and inspecting the embankment for potential risks. In response, the Yingcheng River Embankment Management Section has adopted an operation mode of "machinery as the mainstay and manual work as the supplement" to launch an efficient and precise battle against weeds.

Faced with the triple pressures of "long embankment line, heavy tasks, and tight schedule", the Management Section conducted extensive research and investigations, and specially introduced a new type of remote-controlled lawnmower, which has pressed the "accelerator button" for embankment maintenance work. This remote-controlled lawnmower boasts the advantages of flexible operation and efficient cutting. During operation, staff can control it via a remote control from a safe area. Its body can adapt to sloped terrain with an angle of up to 55 degrees, and it can cover an operation area of 8 mu (approximately 0.53 hectares) per hour—8 to 10 times the efficiency of manual weeding.

Remote-Controlled Lawnmowers Improve Efficiency in Embankment Weed Management

In open embankment surfaces and embankment slopes with gentle gradients, the remote-controlled lawnmower acts like a "weed-removing tool". Wherever it goes, weeds are accurately cut down to a height of less than 3 centimeters. This not only prevents weed roots from damaging the soil structure of the embankment but also clears visual obstacles for subsequent embankment patrolling and risk inspection work.

For areas that are difficult for machinery to reach—such as the steep corners of embankment slopes and the vicinity of embankment protection forests—maintenance workers use hand-held lawnmowers, high-branch shears, and other tools to carry out meticulous trimming, ensuring "full coverage and no blind spots" in embankment weeding.

During the mowing operation, staff members face the dual challenges of high-temperature weather and complex terrain. Some sections of the embankment have steep slopes and even gullies, making mechanical operations somewhat difficult. Nevertheless, the staff strictly follows the operation standards to clear weeds, effectively ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the embankment.
